atkSpeechLimiter is a free speech limiter audio plugin. It helps maintaining consistent audio peak levels or can function as a de-esser. Although atkSpeechLimiter can work on different kinds of materials, it’s been designed for human voice. Set limiter threshold to catch loudest peaks, while keeping gain reduction meter generally above the mid point. De-esser should be set to catch only loudest and most problematic sibilances.

Parameters

  • Pre-Gain: Input gain applied before limiting. Use to drive signal into limiter.
  • Threshold: Level above which limiter begins reducing gain.
  • Ceiling: Maximum output level. Limiter ensures signal never exceeds this level.
  • De-Esser: Relative threshold for high-frequency limiting. At 0, de-esser is disabled.

Usage

  1. Set Threshold to catch loudest parts
  2. Adjust Pre-Gain if you need more or less signal driving into limiter
  3. Set Ceiling to desired maximum output level
  4. Use De-Esser to tame sibilance.
  5. Keep gain reduction meter generally above mid point for transparent limiting
